Graduate Assistantship: University of Arkansas-Little Rock Writing Center

Aug 2025-Present

Being a GA in the Writing Center has strengthened my editing and peer review skills, but it has also allowed me to exhibit leadership and coordination. UWC Graduate Assistants are responsible for “tutoring the tutors” by practicing mock essays and appointments with the interns. Responsibilities have also included:

  • visiting classrooms to advertise the UWC
  • co-hosting writing workshops
  • running the social media
  • leading weekly meetings
  • tutoring sessions with both undergrad and grad students

Grant Writing Internship: UAMS Institute for Digital Health and Innovation

Aug 2025-Dec 2025

The bulk of the work during my internship involved writing and editing grants for the UAMS Institute for Digital Health and Innovation. Responsibilites included:

  • extensive research of statistics (for example, heart attack rates in Arkansas) that would help formulate my argument
  • developing a thorough understanding of NOFOs (Notice of Funding Opportunities)
  • writing and editing a persuasive Project Narrative and Abstract for a grant
  • designing documents for potential grant partners
  • writing endorsements of staff members in award nomination letters, using testimonials I collected from their colleagues and from online research
  • online communication and monthly updates through Loom recorded videos

Editor for Quills & Pixels

Aug 2024-May 2025

The work for the University of Arkansas Little Rock-affiliated nonfiction magazine Quills & Pixels included:

  • evaluating nonfiction submissions and providing developmental feedback via letters
  • meeting with authors to discuss feedback
  • close line editing and copy editing in reference to the Chicago Manual of Style
  • creating style sheets to track changes
  • creating digital layouts through Adobe InDesign that mixed readability and accessibility with creativity and eye-catching design

Library Assistant for Central Arkansas Library System

A dream job for a lover of literature with customer service skills, my library work responsibilities included:

  • assisting patrons daily with tasks 
  • faxing and copying
  • computer assistance
  • book recommendations
  • close attention to detail through shelving, organizing/weeding, and recirculating materials

Arkansas State Online Captioning Assistant

Aug 2020-Jul 2023

I oversaw the transcribing process for various online lectures, podcasts, presentations, and general educational recordings. Editing and close attention to detail was essential in fixing the errors that came with auto-generated closed captioning. 

Editor in Chief and General Staff Member of Aonian

Aug 2018-Aug 2020

Responsibilities included:

  • assembling a staff that broke off into teams (poetry, nonfiction, fiction, and visual art), and assigning team leaders
  • coordinating the annual Aonian Writing Contest
  • designing the Wordpress site that would host our digital publication
  • engaging in online and radio interviews to promote the publication
  • communicating with the rest of the staff to finalize the product
  • hosting the nontraditional Zoom version of our first reading
